Is there any chance it could premiere at Toronto? As that's as big as Cannes, and future Oscar contenders premiere there.
As for the court case defeat, it is worrying, I hope it doesn't stop it getting a release and a settlement can be reached.

The good news is getting closer....
The latest rumor is that Gilliam's film will be added to the Cannes selection... in competition, no less ! Claire Denis's High Life would join it if the visual effects are done in time. It's official, it's in at Cannes!!

 . I'll think of you when I'll watch the film in May and you'll have to wait 6 more months to see it .

It looks like the French are giving a two fingered salute to Paulo Branco by releasing it in French cinemas as well.

It's got so complicated it's impossible to know what Branco really wants anymore. A credit on the finished film? A cash settlement? Or some recognition for at least trying to get it made? He's garnered something of a bad reputation lately, and Quixote's producers are confident they'll see him off. Defeats and appeals notwithstanding.

The french distributor released a new statement precising that the original contract signed by Branco (who's claiming it's still valid) has a clause stating that "no legal conflict can delay, in whatever way, the production or the exhibition of the film"

Yeah, if Branco had wanted the film's release to have been halted, he would have tried before now. At least that clause has saved their bacon for now.
