Interesting factoid: Tony Grisoni has rewritten The Man Who Killed Don Quixote 2 times a year for 17 years (according to this tweet).

The music will apparently be composed by Roque Banos : http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0063414/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cr10
(Alberto Iglesias was supposed to do it for the previous and 2000 iterations)

Here's an article about the film's financing:

Quote:Terry Gilliam runs in Portugal "The man who killed Don Quixote"

US director Terry Gilliam is filming in Portugal the film "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote" with Portuguese coproducer Ukbar Filmes, using more than 500 professionals and 1.2 million euros. The film will benefit from the new system of tax incentives created by the Portuguese Government to attract foreign film productions.

The producer Pandora da Cunha Telles explained to Lusa that part of the shooting of the film takes place at the Convent of Christ in Tomar, with a cast that includes the American actor Adam Driver, the British Jonathan Pryce, the Swedish Stellan Skarsgard, the actress Ukrainian Olga Kurylenko, Spain's Rossy de Palma and Portugal's Joana Ribeiro, as well as hundreds of locals.

Terry Gilliam retained the Portuguese co-production, now with Ukbar Filmes, after the project was in the hands of producer Paulo Branco. According to the director, Paulo Branco did not go ahead with production allegedly due to financing problems.

"The man who killed Don Quixote", an old project by Terry Gilliam, is a co-production between Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium and England, with a total budget of 16 million euros, of which 1.2 million euros are spent In Portugal, said Pandora da Cunha Telles.

With the argument of Terry Gilliam and Tony Grisoni, "The man who killed Don Quixote" is a transposition of Miguel Cervantes' well-known novel for the present.

"In this free adaptation, directed by Benjamín Fernández, the mission remains the same: to fight against the forces of darkness, to save noble maidens and to follow dreams to the end," the Portuguese producer said in a statement.

"The project is also a longtime dream of one of the most creative and visionary masters in the world film industry," praises Ukbar Films about 76-year-old Terry Gilliam.

Terry Gilliam was one of the founders of the British humor collective Monty Python and has authored several feature films since the 1970s, including "Monty Python and the Sacred Chalice", co-edited with Terry Jones, "Time Thieves" , "Brazil", "The Fantastic Adventure of the Baron", "12 Monkeys" and "The Brothers Grimm".

Still without an opening date, the film "The man who killed Don Quixote" will have national distribution guaranteed by the NOS.

Film to benefit from new Portuguese tax incentive

"The man who killed Don Quixote" will benefit from the new system of tax incentives created by the Portuguese Government to attract foreign film productions.

With this tax incentive, the Government expects foreign producers to have a loan if they wish to work in Portugal. This tax credit is deducted from the collection of the IRC, which is calculated on the expenses of the cinematographic production, equal to or greater than one million euros.

The program covers "cinematographic works of foreign initiative carried out with national producers or with national executive producer, works in international co-production and also works of national production", read in the decree-law.

The "maximum tax credit ceiling to be allocated annually" is € 7 million in 2017, € 10 million in 2018 and € 12 million in 2019.

Because of this fiscal incentive, a portal was created with information about Portugal precisely to capture the filming of more foreign film productions.

Attributes, praise and statistical data about the country are listed on the page, including landscape types, monuments, emblematic and historical buildings, as well as information on legislation, producers and other Portuguese entities.

Anyone who does research at PicPortugal can find a summary of the mild climate, the diversity of landscapes - from the 800 kilometers of coast to the historic villages of the interior to natural parks - on castles, palaces and urban art.

There are also some of the film commission in the country, structures that already promote regions for the production of films, television or publicity.

There is also a list of several foreign films that had Portugal as a stage or had Portuguese cast and technicians, such as Fernando Trueba's "Belle Époque" (1992), Patrice Chereau's "The Margot Queen" (1994), " Door "(1999) by Roman Polanski, and" The Fidelity "(2000) by Andrzej Zulawski.

According to ICA data, the cinema, audiovisual and multimedia sector in Portugal in 2012 represented around 6,800 workers, 811 companies and a volume of 949 million euros in sales, of which only 73 million euros were for export .

Also, here's what could be part of a large set decoration (on the left) as part of one of the film locations.
