I did hope the first time I saw the film would be at the cinema too. Although I'm slightly worried as to whether or not a UK release will happen so this might be my only chance. RE: The Making of Quixote - cclark - 10-11-2018 A Fantastic Fest review of Quixote mentioned a US release was a done deal (though there has been no official announcement from Gilliam). I’m sure this is the case for the UK release as well. I had posted a review from Ain't It Cool News from the showing at Fantastic Fest which mentioned news of a US release. I had a feeling it was going to be bogus, especially since there was no other confirmation from other FF reviews. Also the reviewer didn't give much in the way of details. That being said, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Quixote gets US and UK distribution. I was hoping for this Fall, but it'll most likely be early 2019, hopefully in time for the Oscars. RE: The Making of Quixote - bruttenholm - 10-19-2018 If it's early 2019, it won't be in time for the Oscars. I don't see how this film could appeal to the academy anyway (due to the off-kilter nature of the film but also all the metoo hoopla surrounding Gilliam). RE: The Making of Quixote - cclark - 10-19-2018 Right. December 31st is the actual deadline. It might qualify in the Foreign Film category though, as it's already been released elsewhere. As long as Gilliam doesn't make anymore controversial comments regarding #MeToo, I think most people have moved on as he's not been accused of anything serious. RE: The Making of Quixote - bruttenholm - 10-19-2018 All the countries that could have submit it as a candidate in the foreign film category (I mean Spain, Portugal, Belgium, France and UK, which are part of the co-production) selected other films to run, so it won't happen.
