RE: The Making of Quixote - bruttenholm - 06-18-2018 I wish Gilliam's side would be more aggressive in their communication... Now you have heaps of articles saying that the film's distribution is in jeopardy when it's simply not the case... RE: The Making of Quixote - Donald McKinney - 06-18-2018 Plus, they say he's lost the rights to the film. Well, we know that's not strictly true, although that'll be Branco's next conquest no doubt, whether he'll win on that front is another story. However, if you go to the comments on Gilliam's current Facebook post, you'll see he's assuring fans that future releases are still going ahead: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1801583119900494&id=256730041052484 RE: The Making of Quixote - bruttenholm - 06-20-2018 The producers of the film Mariela Besuievsky and Gerardo Herrero have released a press statement clarifying what the verdict is about (in their opinion) : https://www.audiovisual451.com/mariela-besuievsky-y-gerardo-herrero-aclaran-que-la-nueva-sentencia-francesa-sobre-el-hombre-que-mato-a-don-quijote-no-compromete-su-explotacion/ "we want to make it clear that Paulo Branco has not won anything: the Court of Paris has decided not to make any decision in reference to the rights of the film." (excerpt) They're right, the judgement says nothing about distribution or exploitation of the film, just that the contract wasn't terminated. RE: The Making of Quixote - cclark - 06-20-2018 Here's a review of TMWKDQ film score by Jon Broxton: https://moviemusicuk.us/2018/06/20/the-man-who-killed-don-quixote-roque-banos/ RE: The Making of Quixote - cclark - 06-21-2018 (06-20-2018, 08:25 AM)bruttenholm Wrote: The producers of the film Mariela Besuievsky and Gerardo Herrero have released a press statement clarifying what the verdict is about (in their opinion) : https://www.audiovisual451.com/mariela-besuievsky-y-gerardo-herrero-aclaran-que-la-nueva-sentencia-francesa-sobre-el-hombre-que-mato-a-don-quijote-no-compromete-su-explotacion/ I posted an English translation of the article over at r/TerryGilliam on Reddit, and sent it to IndieWire as a tip: https://www.reddit.com/r/TerryGilliam/comments/8sh9va/mariela_besuievsky_and_gerardo_herrero_clarify/ Here's hoping they pick it up and run with the story. RE: The Making of Quixote - bigotitos - 06-21-2018 It seems Branco can't prevent the exhibition of the film and the plans for international screening are going ahead. https://www.elespanol.com/cultura/20180620/mariela-besuievsky-derechos-quijote-estrenara-mundo/316469526_0.html RE: The Making of Quixote - Donald McKinney - 06-22-2018 Well, that's good news, and that clears it up. The 2016 contract was terminated poorly because Terry got bad legal advice. Mariela Besuievsky sums up Branco perfectly, "There is a desire for revenge, against something so irrational you can not fight." Obviously you can't reason with Branco, he's willing to put everything on the line for a film he DIDN'T produce. I think non-french audience and journalists don't quite grasp how the Brancos are behaving and how far they're willing to bend the truth. P.S : As a proof of the international releases of the film going ahead, here is the german-dubbed trailer : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ClIFRDNmC8 RE: The Making of Quixote - bigotitos - 06-22-2018 (06-22-2018, 01:39 AM)cclark Wrote:(06-21-2018, 02:58 PM)bigotitos Wrote: It seems Branco can't prevent the exhibition of the film and the plans for international screening are going ahead. https://www.elespanol.com/cultura/20180620/mariela-besuievsky-derechos-quijote-estrenara-mundo/316469526_0.html Thank you very much for your effort Cclark. Hopefully this will help to clarify the situation. And thanks everyone around here for your coverage. |
