These american "journalists" love their superheroes maybe a bit too much : https://twitter.com/scottEweinberg/status/1005952097895018496
I don't know, i'm completely aghast seeing this "controversy" around Gilliam's words... It's like he was pissing on sacred ground, that's crazy. "Simple pleasures"... Like we were talking about walking in the park when we talk about giant corporate movies that are drowning theaters under oversimplified visions of life...

These movie bloggers are basically religious fanatics when it comes to comics. It is utterly ludicrous that you are not able to express a dislike for superheroes or anything as trivial as that without getting attacked, like you just insulted their mothers. It shows how times have changed because Terry has said stuff like this before years ago and nobody cared. It was just an opinion.

RE: The Making of Quixote - MercuryZap - 06-11-2018

The whole film scene and notion of film journalism/criticism has become deeply unpleasant and ludicrous.

I’ll probably sound like I’m an old codger but I’m glad I experienced the pre-internet movie age.

That Avengers “thing” was the most synthetic and depressing experience I’ve had in the cinema in ages and that’s saying something.

I try and keep an open mind; commercial cinema has produced many, many great films and there is always a pleasent surprise every now and again but by and large it’s pretty grim.

This sucks.

Paris appeals court rules in favour of Paulo Branco on ‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’

RE: The Making of Quixote - Donald McKinney - 06-15-2018

Fuck. Gilliam could appeal, but what does this mean for the film? Will it have to be withdrawn from cinemas? Will this hurt future international releases?

RE: The Making of Quixote - bruttenholm - 06-16-2018

You can't appeal on an appeal court decision... It has NOTHING to do with future or present release of the film though. It just meant Branco is entitled to part of the royalties though even that is not clear... Anyway now Branco will sue for damages and interests now.

RE: The Making of Quixote - cclark - 06-16-2018

Long-term, I wonder how this would affect Branco's career as a producer. Would anyone want to work with him again after this well publicized debacle? I wonder if he will enjoy living in the hole he's digging for himself. Karma can be a bitch.

RE: The Making of Quixote - Donald McKinney - 06-16-2018

Branco's shown his true colours throughout this, I think people will keep away from him, so he might have won this case, it'll come with a drawback meaning he might as well have lost. Plus, it's helped with the publicity for Quixote, and there's no such thing as bad publicity etc. Tongue
