I just shared the good news on Reddit/r/Movies. Also, I can't wait to see Afam Driver's acting debut.  Wink

By the way, in a new interview, Gilliam says he'll have a final cut next week and the film will be totally finished in january : http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b095p6m5 (around the 1h30 mark)

Jean Rochefort, Gilliam's first Quixote, died last night... He was 87 years old. In France he is quite a monument. Sadly, his involvement with Gilliam left him quite bitter and beaten up...

Yeah, that's a sad loss, he also worked with Luis Bunuel and Robert Altman, he'd learnt English just to do Quixote. It's a shame the experience left him feeling that way.

Maybe Phil has more details about this but strangely the technical specifications of the film have been updated on imdb. Now it seems actually that the film will be the first Gilliam feature film to have been shot in digital (with the arri alexa xt camera) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1318517/technical?ref_=ttfc_sa_6

Hello. Long time Gilliam fanatic here. First time to post but have read all of your messages since Brothers Grimm etc.

Interesting that IMDB says that it was on Alexa. Possibly certain scenes/pickups? I've seen behind-the-scenes photos on this very site which shows Gilliam and Pecorini behind a 35mm Arriflex....I wonder...

RE: The Making of Quixote - Maverick2013 - 11-21-2017

Oh, on a second look, the camera has a cover on it...It has the same build as a film camera but who knows...could be an Alexa.

RE: The Making of Quixote - bruttenholm - 11-21-2017

On the website of the transport coordinator, they also mention alexa : http://cheleguardia.wixsite.com/cine/copia-de-2014-a-perfect-day
And by the way, if imdb is to be believed, it would also be the first time Gilliam shoots anamorphic.

Terry Gilliam speaks to the New York Times on Quixote:

Quote:Well, we’ve almost finished the cut. We’re just fiddling now, figuring out a few things here and there so it’s pretty much what it is. We’ve got still months of work to do on visual effects, sound, music. But as far as the tale, it’s pretty tight now and it’s surprisingly wonderful.

I always hesitate to get too optimistic or too excited about the work I’m doing. I’d rather try to stay cynical and slightly distant from it. When you fall in love with something, it’s painful when it doesn’t work for everybody else. But all the people who’ve seen it so far — they used the words, “We’re in love with this.” So let’s see if they’re right.
