Criterion Collection
Several Terry Gilliam movies have been given the "Criterion treatment" - ie they have been released on Laserdisc with director commentary and extras.

The discs with the most extra bits were Munchausen and Brazil. The Munchausen LD release, a three disc set, includes the film in CAV format with deleted scenes, storyboards, production notes and an astonishing number of stills. The Brazil release covers five seperate discs and includes the Sheinberg cut of the film, known as the "Love Conquers All" version of Brazil. Also released by Criterion were Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Monty Python's Life of Brian Time Bandits, and The Fisher King.

These are now being released on DVD, but it remains to be seen whether they will be released with all of the extras on the Laserdiscs. For more information, visit the Criterion Collection website

12 Monkeys Laserdisc
12 Monkeys has been released on laserdisc in the US in two formats: there is the normal format and the Signature edition. The Signature edition contains extra behind-the-scenes information and also The Hamster Factor.

Getting hold of the discs
Although there are some Criterion Laserdiscs in stores within the States, they are getting more and more difficult to get hold of. They do however regularly appear at internet auction house ebay. These are Laserdiscs in the NTSC format and, if to be used outside of the States, you need a Laserdisc machine that will convert NTSC into your local format.

Terry Gilliam has been very involved with the creation of the three Monty Python CD-ROMs, all of which contain a great deal of Gilliam material. The proposed Animations of Mortality CD-ROM has been shelved.

Monty Python's Meaning of Life
Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail
