Just watched the documentary The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness and was struck by Hayao's and Terry's singular obsession to create their visions. I wonder what Terry thinks of Miyzaki's films and what (if anything) Hayao thinks of Terry's. Perhaps a degree of frustration and selfishness is necessary to great great work. Always thought The Defective Detective would make a better animated film than a live-action.
