Exciting stuff.

To actually be there would be great but I hope they document a performance and make it available at some point.
Thanks!

"There's much hope of going on and on" says Gilliam... Unless it's completely panned by critics, I can't see this show ending with its Bath run.

First reactions !

Quote:What a fantastic production. Everyone drop what you're doing and visit Bath right now. I've come from Scotland, no excuses please!

I've never seen a proper live production of into the woods before. Ive seen the movie and thought it was awful. But I've been in a Sondheim phase and couldn't resist the phenomenal cast.

Its bigger budget than you think. I'd even say try to avoid everything that you can. What a treat this was!

I hope this comes to the West End as I cannot afford another trip to Bath. Please go see this!

mid-spoiler for this one :

Quote:just seen first preview! and this surpassed expectations for me personally. the set especially is phenomenal and miles better than anything i went in expecting. the premise of it all being a child’s toy is used amazingly and while used throughout doesn’t feel too much. the cast is very strong with lauren, audrey and alex being standouts for me personally. the production is very different to any others i’ve personally seen and lots of moments are reimagined. think one of the big ones which i haven’t (personally) seen before it the mysterious man no longer being the baker’s father but instead a representation of death which really changed ‘no more’. the whole production was amazing and definitely a go see ! from the budget funnelled into set it’s clear a london run is happening. my one gripe was a few of the costumes, mainly the wolf costume solely because you couldn’t see his face so no acting was really possible in the song. really excited to see how the show develops in previews and then with the transfer

Quote:A friend of mine travelled for this. It sounds very good, after a thirty minute rave down the phone to me. I’ll be booking for this and probably stay the night.

The interview, with its focus on cancel culture etc. is not very interesting but there are clips from the show.

Gilliam makes a good point though about people not being able to take a joke, plus the same thing happened last weekend to poor Jerry Sadowitz in Edinburgh, although I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner.  Tongue

Apparently the rumor is that the show is coming to the Phoenix Theatre in London in March 2023
