I wish there was a link I could provide, but Eric Idle showed up on stage as a certain notorious reporter for the 50th Anniversary Grammy Salute to The Beatles's Ed Sullivan Show broadcast by CBS, enlightening everybody that "it was 50 years ago today...well, obviously not today, but only a few days ahead of today, that it will be 50 years since The Rutles first appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show...and I find it remarkable that The Beatles were also there!"
It was so unexpected, and so awesome, so see that on the 50th Anniversary Tribute. I'm not only a big fan of The Beatles, but also a big fan of The Rutles. Paul even laughed down in the audience, even though they keep saying he's always been the one Beatle to have reacted the most frostily to Eric Idle and Neil Innes's crazy Beatles pastiche spoof yarn.
