Apparently this hardy perennial and a personal favourite is 40 years old. Here's a picture of my favourite Time Bandit, Og (Mike Edmonds).
You could enjoy your distractions (no matter how compelling) more innocently back then.
I was already a huge Python fan as a kid and was on holiday around the locations on the English riviera where some of the original show was filmed (not that I knew it at the time).
I stumbled upon a cinema and saw the now iconic Gilliam poster art with no knowledge that the film even existed. I went to see it every night for a week....
