RE: Gilliam is working on it (again) - dktd - 10-08-2015 Was at the Gilliam chat at the Southbank last night. Gilliam said he didn't want to talk about Quixote - he said doesn't know what to do without John Hurt who has been Quixote for him for the last two years. They can't get insurance for Hurt to work on it. RE: Gilliam is working on it (again) - bruttenholm - 10-09-2015 Yes, the situation seems unsolvable. John Hurt is acting in a new film right now but in a secondary part, I don't know if insurance companies will ever let him play the central part of a film now. RE: Gilliam is working on it (again) - bruttenholm - 10-10-2015 Ok now that I listened to the podcast of the Southbank chat it seems that Gilliam is bound to recast actually... He's saying that he has to "rewind" the film he's made in his head to change Quixote with another actor... Sad to hear. RE: Gilliam is working on it (again) - cclark - 10-27-2015 If Gilliam has to recast Quixote, who would you all like to see? Somebody on the IMDb message board mentioned Daniel Day-Lewis for the role. I have to say that no matter who is finally cast for the role, John Hurt was the one I had hoped for (even back when Robert Duvall was cast as Quixote). Here's hoping he recovers soon, regardless of whomever steps into the role. Update: John Hurt given all-clear on cancer Update 2: Quote:Speaking to BBC Radio Norfolk, Hurt's agent agent Charles Macdonald has since clarified: "Sir John has been given very good news by his oncologist but it falls short of an all-clear. Nonetheless it's very good news."via Digital Spy Here's hoping he gets an "all-clear" soon. RE: Gilliam is working on it (again) - bruttenholm - 10-28-2015 In a recent talk, Gilliam says John Hurt is clear from cancer but that it might not be sufficient for the insurance company's doctors : (it's near the end, sorry I don't remember the exact time) RE: Gilliam is working on it (again) - bruttenholm - 01-13-2016 Gilliam is teasing about the project again on facebook... If the last bit of storyboard is actually from the film, it could mean Gilliam has cast himself in his own film (?) : ![]() RE: Gilliam is working on it (again) - TlatoSMD - 01-20-2016 Remember, the current down-to-earth, realistic incarnation of the script is about a director who long ago has made a widely-praised film about Quixote as his debut and could never equal that, and is now stirred-up by what seems like an IRL Quixote. RE: Gilliam is working on it (again) - bruttenholm - 01-28-2016 If you know someone who's a suscriber to Production Weekly, "The man who killed Don Quixote" is listed in the new issue, I don't know what it means. RE: Gilliam is working on it (again) - cclark - 02-09-2016 Monty Python star Terry Gilliam to bring his Don Quixotic art to streets of Edinburgh RE: Gilliam is working on it (again) - bruttenholm - 02-11-2016 In the introduction to an article about the Edinburgh quote, the Times apparently confirms that the filming of The Man who killed Don Quixote is now planned for the autumn. You have to pay for the full article so I don't have more information. |
